First Regional Workshop on “Best Municipal Practices on Business Environment” as a part of the "Municipal Competitiveness Index” 2014 project, supported by Partnerships for Development.

Twenty-six municipal officials from seven municipalities gathered today to discuss best practices on business environment which are useful and needful for improvement of municipal business environment.

Improvements that are achieved in time and procedures for registering business and decentralization of services that are provided in municipal level have been recognized by both Doing Business Index of the World Bank, as well as by the MCI and with respect to aforementioned aspects of improvement, best practices have also been recognized as fundamental by the municipal officials.

Practices such as: Advertisements of reforms, manuals and brochures posted in municipal websites, Promotion of services provided in center for business registrations, Lists of businesses, Systemized all services in one place, Reporting corruption mechanisms etc., are some of the new practices that improve the process of registering of new businesses.

Ibrahim Rama, Director of Finance and Economic Development Directorate from Viti / Vitina municipality stated that “Kosovo has made progress in improvement of business environment and as a part of continues endeavor we will address challenges for a better business environment”.
